Congratulations Sally Thacker winner of the DevelopHer Apprenticeship Award!

AST is proud to announce that Sally Thacker, Software Developer Apprentice has become this year’s winner of the DevelopHER Apprenticeship Award. The Award is designed to celebrate the achievements of women in technology.

“I was so pleased to present Sally with the Apprentice award this year. It's wonderful to see how she has progressed in the company and great that her employer AST is supporting her to build a career in technology' said Vickie Allen, Founder of the DevelopHER awards”.

Sally’s story

Born in Lowestoft, Sally, enjoys combining her passions for technology and design to create valuable business tools. She says “It feels amazing to win this award. It’s great that I’m now in a position to decide which areas of development I want to pursue further”.

Since Sally started with AST in 2018 the company has provided her with continuous training which allowed her to progress to a Technical Administrator role. “I got to learn more about how our systems work and took on more responsibility. Luckily I have a passion for learning”, she says. “I’m part of a supportive and open-minded team which allows space for me to come up with creative ideas”.

Throughout its 30 year history Applied Satellite Technology has championed women in technology; from configuring complex satellite connectivity to designing software. Its career development programme sponsors specialist training, mentoring and management development for every woman who wants to take up the challenge.

AST’s Group Managing Director Andrew Peters says “This is fundamental to our company ethos and true to our values as an organisation”.
