Features and Benefits

While screws are included to allow for mounting the unit to a suitable location, it may be preferable to use another mounting option (particularly in-vehicle). It is possible to use a third party mounting option using the screw holes on the charger's rear panel (the screw hole configuration uses the standard AMPS hole pattern and could facilitate using a ball mount etc.).

The docking station also features an anti-theft function compatible when using the supplied wiring harness to connect to the vehicle electrics; this will sound the vehicle horn if unauthorized removal, of the ICOM IC-SAT100 from the cradle, is detected.

NOTE: the ICOM IC-SAT100 Satellite Radio is not included with the docking station.

Push-to-talk (PTT)

Safety radio is essential life-saving equipment that, under the safety of life at sea convention, vessels are required to have onboard.

The global maritime distress safety system (GMDSS) minimum requirement is to have at least two handheld VHF handsets and at least one VHF digital selective calling (DSC) hardware onboard in order to raise a signal. The further a vessel travels into far-reaching sea areas the more safety at sea equipment is needed.
