In a world first, Great Migrations Camps launched a new online-platform 'LiveReview' offering user friendly visual reviewing of safari properties and experiences across east Africa, bringing clients and operators together in a fresh and innovative way to learn about, research and book safari holidays.
The first reviews came from a partnership between Elewana Collection and Serengeti Balloon Safaris and featured a full experience review of Serengeti Pioneer Camp and an unmissable live broadcast while drifting across the vast plains of the Serengeti above herds of thousands of wildebeest.
The platform aims to completely change not only the way safari operators and clients interact, but also how people approach booking a safari.
Carel Verhoef, LiveReview presenter and Great Migration Camps Director says: “There really is nothing like this reviewing platform in the safari tourism marketplace and Great Migration Camps is creating an innovative and fresh new approach to learning about, preparing for, booking and ultimately going on safari.”
Designed to be in depth enough to appeal to seasoned safari-goers, the LiveReview platform is also accessible enough to attract those for whom safari holidays may have previously seemed too remote and complex a prospect.
James Haigh, Sales and Marketing Director at Elewana Collection, the first property to be reviewed said: “With this very first LiveReview we really can take people right into the heart of the experience of staying at Serengeti Pioneer Camp and ultimately what it's like to be on safari. We are looking forward to showcasing everything about the Elewana experience from the guides that take you out to find the animals, to our friendly management, chefs and housekeeping staff, all of whom will make your experience that extra bit special when staying with us.”
Using state of the art satellite transmission technology and innovative connectivity solutions by partner Applied Satellite Technology (AST), and creating a platform accessible worldwide, the LiveReview broadcasts will allow the viewer to see and experience a whole range of lodges, camps and properties that will ultimately help them to choose a destination for their safari.
Pieter Fourie, AST said: “We're excited to be part of this pioneering project and to be providing the technology in order that these reviews can take place from the remotest of locations in the Serengeti”.
A small, dedicated team with over 40 years combined experience in the African safari and wildlife industries will be filming and presenting the reviews which can be watched live or accessed online post-broadcast on the Great Migration Camps website, including that of the first ever live broadcast from a hot air balloon above the Serengeti.
Carel Verhoef concludes: “With Great Migration Camps LiveReviews, we are using modern technology to upgrade the more traditional written reviews that can be found on any number of sites across the Internet to something completely different; a three-dimensional, interactive experience that will greatly help clients to choose the right destination for their next safari.”
